Vishnu on Garuda

Lintel Collection, Phimai
11th century, Baphuon style

A collection of free-standing lintels, from Phimai and other sites, occupies an open area just north of the temple. This one is from Prasat Bai Baek. In the center is Vishnu on his mount, surrounded by florid garlands and Kala (with protruding tongue) below Garuda. Seated rishis line the top of the lintel.
