Htilominlo Temple

Pagan, Burma
1218

This large temple in the Burmese style was built, like Mahabodhi and the Wetkyi-in Kubyaukgyi, by King Nadaungmya (1211-1230). Its design imitates that of Sulamani Temple (1183), which was built by Nadaungmya's father, Sithu II. Htilominlo is a two-level temple, oriented to the east, with a massive upper shrine and a sikhara-type finial.
