Neolithic Pot

Ban Chiang, 1000-300 BC
National Museum, Bangkok

The large pot shown here is a fine example of Ban Chiang red-on-buff ware, which was thrown freehand without use of a wheel. This type of pottery appears in burial contexts, along with a variety of bronze and glass ornaments including armbands, anklets, rings, and necklaces.
