Royal Botanical Gardens

Peradeniya, Sri Lanka

The Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya were created by the British in the 19th century, on the grounds of King Kirti Sri's 18th century pleasure park. It is the premier botanical garden in Sri Lanka, covering about 150 acres with a huge variety of tree and plant species.

Peradeniya is a university town in the hill country, located just a mile or two southwest of Kandy.
