Geumcheongyo Bridge

Deoksugung Palace
Seoul, Korea (Palace Map)

The name of this bridge is the same as the bridge in Changdeokgung, and it was built for the same reason: a river flowing across the front is a geomantic requirement, derived from Chinese feng shui, for any respectable Korean palace. The difference is that the Deoksugung stream was entirely artificial, and later stopped up so that the bridge was buried under silt. Eventually the bridge was uncovered again, but the stream has not been restored.
