Farmers' Protest

Seoul, Korea

Koreans have a tradition of mass protest, especially in the modern era. These farmers are marching (2016) against the low market price of rice, which they blame on competition from Big Agra. It is the same issue that has exercised Farm Aid and similar protests in the United States.

This peaceful protest, which was well-attended by protestors, onlookers, and police, blocked rush-hour traffic on Seul's main street for several hours.
