Jeondong Cathedral

Jeonju, Korea

Jeondong Cathedral was designed by Victor Louis Poisnel, a French priest who also designed the Myeongdong Cathedral in Seoul. The church was built upon a famous martyrdom site (later page), and was completed in 1914. The church is built in Romanesque/Byzantine style with red brick cladding, narrow doors and windows topped by semicircular arches, a domed central bell tower flanked by two smaller domed side towers, and a basilican-plan clerestory.
