Altars With Memorial Tablets

Hyanggyo Confucian School
Jeonju, Korea

The altars in the East and West shrines (see previous page) display memorial tablets that occupy individual chair-like stands behind pairs of nestable tables. The smaller table is equipped with a single drawer. During the Joseon period when the school was functioning, there would of course have been various offerings and furnishings (vessels, incense, etc.) displayed on the tables.
