Diagram of Tomb Interior

Deokheung-ri, 408 A.D.
Taean City, North Korea

The tomb has two connecting chambers. The south chamber is the antechamber, and the north chamber is the main chamber where the coffin was placed. The south chamber is located to the left in the upper sketch; the panel on its west wall is the one seen on the previous page. A military progress with armored horsemen occupies the east wall of the south chamber, while its dome is finished with an astronomical ceiling. The focus of the north chamber (main chamber) is another portrait of Governor Jin, who was also portrayed in the south chamber (previous page). The dome of the north chamber is heavily stepped, in contrast to the south chamber. The north chamber is more sparsely decorated than the south chamber, perhaps in a hurry to finish the tomb after the owner's death.
