East Face

Temenos Gateway, Petra

This photo shows the east face of the gateway, as seen from the Great Temple. The people in the center of the photo are walking through the central opening of the gateway, into the sacred precinct of Qasr al-Bint. A bit of the temple's east wall is visible well beyond and to the left of the gateway in this photo.

The three openings in the gateway were originally supplied with hinged doors.
