Shuri Castle, Okinawa

The Second Main Gate, a well-known symbol of Okinawa, frames the approach to Shuri Castle, the political center of Okinawa's Ryukyu Kingdom (15th - 19th centuries). The original of the gate was built in the 16th century, but this is a modern reconstruction.
