These Haniwa were excavated from the Niigawa Senzuka Kofun. They belong to the cylindrical jar type, although a lone shield may be seen in the center of the photo. These Haniwa may have served simply as a kind of fence, to mark off the sacred precinct of a tomb from its surroundings.
