North Octagonal Hall

The North Octagonal Hall is a faithful 1208 rebuilding of the Nara-period original. It is dedicated to the memory of Fujiwara no Fuhito (659-720), the temple's founder. Fuhito is the patriarch of the Fujiwara clan, who masterminded the imperial court's move to Nara in 710.
