Konjiki-do (Golden Hall)

The temple's reconstructed Konjiki-do (Golden Hall) was built in 1124; an end-view of Konjiki-do's modern protective hall (1963) is seen in the upper photo. Inside the protective hall stands something truly unique (next page): a (literally) golden inner hall that contains three altars and mummies of the Northern Fujiwara clan rulers (historic photograph, 1915).

The photo below shows Konjiki-do's former protective hall (16th century), an Important Cultural Property in its own right.
