Parvati

1011 A.D..
Rajaraja Museum, Thanjavur

Shiva's consort stands with feet in a "V", her right leg slightly bent, and her exaggerated left hip outthrust. The form of her lower garment, with closely-spaced parallel horizontal ridges, is seen in other statues of the period, such as the Marriage of Shiva and Parvati in the same museum.
