Shravanabelgola

Karnataka

Shravanabelgola, a Jain pilgrimage site halfway between Mysore and Hassan, occupies two hills and a valley. It was founded by the 9th century Ganga rulers of southern Karnataka. This photograph was taken from partway up Vindhyagiri, the southern hill, looking across the valley to the large tank, village, and Chandragiri, the northern hill, in the background.
