Ganesh and VishnuKeshava Temple, Somnathpur |
On the left, dancing Ganesh; on the right, Vishnu seated "at ease" on Ananta. Between the panels is a female drummer; at photo right, the ritually "dangerous" junction of two walls is spiritually reinforced by a woman carrying fruits, emblematic of fertility and abundance.
Unusually, the sculptures are signed (square plaques); according to the Rough Guide, all the signatures in the temple bear the same name, "Malitamba."
