Vasudhara

Nepal, 14th century
Prince of Wales Museum, Bombay

Vasudhara is the Nepalese Buddhist "giver of wealth," the counterpart of Hindu Lakshmi. Her right hands (photo left) from top to bottom make a gesture of adoring, hold a spray of gems, and grasp some attribute which has now been lost. In her left hands (again, from top to bottom) she holds a manuscript, a sheaf of grain, and a waterpot.
