Tomb of Hayath Bakshi Begum (1667)

Qutb Shahi Tombs, Golconda (map)

Hayath Bakshi Begum, a sort of "Eleanor of Aquitaine" among the Qutb Shahis, was the daughter of Mohammad Quli IV, wife of his nephew Mohammad V, and mother of Abdullah Quli VI. The architecture of her tomb is similar to her husband's (previous page) and son's (not shown). This photo shows its south face. The Great Mosque, built under her supervision, is partly visible to the west. A smaller mosque is obscured by trees in the photo left lower corner.
