Basilica of Bom Jesu

Goa, 1605

The Basilica of Bom Jesu ("Good Jesus") entombs the remains of St. Francis Xavier ("ZEY-v-yer," rhymes with "Savior"; 1506-1552), the great Jesuit missionary to India and Japan. On view in this photo are the church's Renaissance facade and buttresses.
