Standing Buddha

7th century
Mahabodhi Temple, Bodhgaya

This figure is one of the standing Buddhas that decorate the outside of the temple. Modern worship is implemented by yellow flowers at the base, and gold foil on the lower legs. A garland is draped over the Buddha's left hand, which makes a gesture of holding something, with the back of the hand to the viewer. The figure's right hand is raised in abhaya mudra.
