Pyramid of Khafre

2558 BC - 2532 BC
Giza, Egypt

Khafre's pyramid is a bit smaller than Khufu's, but Khafre built on an elevation which makes it appear taller. Khafre (Greek name, Chephren) was a son of Khufu and also built the Great Sphinx (next photo), which is associated with this pyramid.

The pyramid retains, towards its top, some of the original limestone casing. The pyramid is atypical in having two entrances in the north face, instead of just one.
