Terra-Cotta Warriors

Pit 3, Lishan Necropolis, Xi'an

The "Command Post" of the terra-cotta army was in this smaller pit, designated as Pit 3. Sixty-eight figures, of higher-ranking officers or generals, were found in this pit. It is located above the infantry (Pit 1) and screened by cavalry (Pit 2). Pit 4, between pits 3 and 2, was found to be empty when excavated.
