Bodhisattva Manjusri

Manjusri Hall, Foguang Si

The bodhisattva, riding his lion and surrounded by attendants, is enshrined in his hall. In his hands he presents what appears to be a restored lotus vine. According to the temple signage, these statues are Jin dynasty in date (12th century, like the hall); their paint, of course, has been renewed in modern times.
