Sera Monastery

Lhasa, Tibet

The monastery, located just north of Lhasa, was founded in 1419. It is a monastery of the Yellow Hat (Gelugpa) order, to which the Dalai Lamas belong. In this photo, the monastery buildings perch dramatically high up on the cliffside.
