Luohans

Many of the Luohans are portrayed with exaggerated physical characteristics, such as the enormously long arm of the central figure. These characteristics are traditional, and convey the idea that the Luohans are enlightened beings, beyond normal convention, and have accrued many supernatural powers. Indeed, they bear a family resemblance to the Immortals of Daoist tradition.
