White Horse Pagoda

Dunhuang

There are several pagodas called "White Horse" in Asia. The Dunhuang pagoda was originally built in 386 AD to honor Kumarajiva's horse (I am not making this up), which had died on the monk's journey East. The 12m (40ft) high pagoda is made of clay covered in stucco, and has been rebuilt many times.
